Police Public Relations Department Overhauled

In the message released this afternoon, four regional spokespersons have been transferred to the police headquarters to act as liaison officers for different directorates. They include Vincent Sekate, Samson Lubega, Sophie Naggayi Kaggwa, and Evas Ainomugisha.
Up to 17 regional police spokespersons have been transferred and redeployed, in implementation of a plan to reorganize the Police Press and Public Relations Department.

The plan was initiated by slain Police Spokesperson Andrew Felix Kaweesi seeks to have liaison officers attached to all departments and directorates of Police.

In the message released this afternoon, four regional spokespersons have been transferred to the police headquarters to act as liaison officers for different directorates. They include Vincent Sekatte, Samson Lubega, Sophie Naggayi Kaggwa, and Evas Ainomugisha.

Sekatte, the former deputy police spokesperson, is appointed the liaison officer for the Directorates of Interpol, Peace and support, Criminal investigations and Crime Intelligence under the new arrangement, while Samson Lubega, will be the liaison officer for the Directorate of Human Resource Administration, Human Resource Development, Operations and Field Force Police.

Sophie Naggayi Kaggwa has been appointed liaison officer for the Directorate of ICT, Legal Services, Special Duties and Forensic Services while Evas Ainomugisha is the liaison Officer for the Directorate of Welfare, Anti Stock Theft Unit and Oil & Gas.

The Traffic and Road safety will now have a spokesperson with the appointment of Charles Sembabulidde who now becomes a public relations officer on top of his role as the Traffic Law Enforcement Officer.

In other changes, Lameck Kigozi has been moved from Ssezibwa to greater Masaka region as the Public Relations Officer. He will be replaced by Hellen Butoto, a cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) who was transferred from Ibanda to Ssezibwa as PRO.

Diana Nandawula moves from Greater Masaka to Kiira as the Public Relations Officer while Paul Kangavve moves from Kampala Metropolitan Police to Savannah in the same capacity.

Suwedi Manshur also moves from Rwenzori East to Elgon region , Julius Hakiza from Albertine region to Rwizi as PRO in addition to the other duties he has been performing in Fire and Rescue Service Directorate. He is replaced by Cadet ASP Samson Kasasira from Nakaseke.

Rita Naggadya is appointed PRO in the Counter Terrorism Directorate, in addition to the other duties she has been performing in the directorate. Cadet ASP Luke Owoyesigire from Yumbe moves to Greater Bushenyi as PRO, Cadet ASP Rogers Taitika moves from Kanungu to Sipi region and Cadet ASP Mary Nankinga moves from Jinja Central Police Station to police Press and Public Relations as in charge Website.
