The Police
in Dokolo district has arrested their own for allegedly shooting a trader.

Jasper Opio, a 28-year-old, resident of Adok Sub County in Dokolo district.
The victim
was shot on the legs on Friday evening in Odeo trading centre when the police officers
from Adok police station opened fire to disperse traders during the curfew
hours.
Opio is currently admitted at
Dokolo Health Center IV.
Victoria
Akello, one of the residents says that the police should have shot in the air,
but not direct their guns at the traders.

Okema, the North Kyoga Police Spokesperson says that the scene of the crime was
visited by a team of police officers from Dokolo CPS and a riffle No: UG-POL
563622088-52638 loaded with 16 live ammunitions and six cartridges recovered.
He said that
the police are closely investigating the matter and ensure the law takes its
course.

Okema asked members of the public to desist from provoking security
personnel and adhere to the Covid-19 guidelines.
The
government imposed a curfew in March last year which started at 9 pm until 5:30
am as a measure to curb COVID-19. However, on Friday, President Museveni
revised the curfew time from 7 pm to 5:30 am for 42 days.
