The Minister for Presidency, Milly Babalanda, has asked Resident District Commissioners (RDCs), Resident City Commissioners (RCCs), their deputies, and District Internal Security Officers (DISOs) in Busoga sub-region to end the infighting.

She says infighting and conflicts among RDCS and RCCs have hindered their effectiveness in serving the populations in their respective areas.

Speaking at the closing of a two-day retreat for the officers at Source of the Nile Hotel in Jinja City on Tuesday evening, Babalanda expressed her concerns over the lack of cohesion among some RDCs, their deputies, and DISOs in Busoga. She revealed that certain officials have been transferred to different areas due to their inability to work harmoniously.

Babalanda emphasized that although all these officers are appointed by the Office of the President, some RDCs, DISOs, and deputies have been engaging in malicious reporting and undermining each other instead of collaborating to serve the best interests of the local populations.

The minister noted that President Museveni had initially preferred deploying officials in their respective areas of origin to facilitate mobilization efforts and support for government programs. However, the prevalence of internal conflicts and incompetence among these officers has forced the ministry to dismiss those who fail to maintain discipline, aiming to create a harmonious working environment that ensures effective service delivery.

Babalanda stressed that the ongoing conflicts among these presidential representatives not only hinder the realization of security in their deployment areas but also compromise the safety of the residents they are meant to protect. She called upon the officials to prioritize unity and collaboration, as it would facilitate the effective implementation of presidential directives without compromise.

Yunus Kakande, the Secretary in the Office of the President, echoed Babalanda's sentiments and urged RDCs and RCCs to work towards reconciling warring factions among National Resistance Movement (NRM) leaders in Busoga. He emphasized the importance of fostering harmony and unity to facilitate the uptake of government programs aimed at eradicating poverty in the sub-region.
