Initial reports indicate that Ricky Okello, who was deployed at the Bank of Baroda Lira branch was taking duty from his colleague David Jangole when his gun released bullets that shot two people along Oyam road.
Three private security guards have been arrested for shooting two people on a street in Lira last night.
The three were identified as Ricky Okello, David Ojangole and
Gloria Amolo, all attached to Security 2000. Initial reports indicate that Ricky Okello, who was deployed at the Bank of Baroda
Lira branch was taking duty from his colleague David Jangole when his gun released bullets that shot two people along Oyam road.
The bullet shot through the
stomach of a yet-to-be-identified man and lodged on the neck of Nancy Atim, a 22-years old hairdresser. The victims have been admitted to Lira Regional Referral Hospital.

Spokesperson Jimmy Patrick Okema says that preliminary findings show that Okello was carrying out normal Safety Precautions but did not realize
that the gun had bullets.

This incident however prompted reactions from the public. William Diicunyi, a bodaboda cyclist and Joar, Okeng, who operates in the same area says that often security guards are drunk while others accused them
of being reckless with their guns.

Thomas Okul, an eyewitness selling general
merchandise across the street says Okello was seated with the gun in his hands
when he accidentally pulled the trigger.
Last month, a private security guard was arrested when he shot
a man who was walking along the street at night.
