Lightning Strikes Kanungu Pupils

According to Tumukwase, the thunderbolt struck at around 3pm during a heavy downpour as the pupils and teachers were conducting a debate.

Lightning has struck a primary six pupil of Nyakeina Parents Primary School in Kayonza Sub County, Kanungu district to death and left seven others hospitalized. The incident occurred on Friday afternoon following a heavy down pour.

 

 

The school head teacher, Jeremiah Tumukwase identifies the deceased pupil as Aggrey Ainembabazi, a resident of Kinyisa cell in Retendere parish in Kayonza Sub County.

On April 3, 2018, lightning struck a woman and her daughter in Bujengwe village in Karangara parish in Kayonza Sub County in Kanungu District.

 

Peninah Katushabe and her daughter, Rachel Turyakira, a student of Kihihi Vocational Centre in Kihihi town council died on spot. Katushabe was inside her house while Turyakira was washing sandals outside the house when they were struck.

 

On March 14, 2018, a 16-year-old pupil at Kahumure Primary School in Bukimbiri Sub County, Kisoro District was struck by lightning, which also injured five other pupils.
