Regional Financial Management Centre Opened in Kabarole

The Centre will be a support hub for all financial management issues, provide convenient and easy-to-access facilities for users and serve as a platform for technical support for payroll-related issues.

Local government finance officers in the Rwenzori region are expected to cut costs on personnel and financial management issues following the launch of a regional finance management centre in Kabarole District.

The new centre at the Kabarole District headquarters has fully equipped computers, accessories, and network service. It will be a support hub for all financial management issues, provide convenient and easy-to-access facilities for users and serve as a platform for technical support for payroll-related issues.

It will serve the districts of Kamwenge, Bundibugyo, Kyenjojo, Fort Portal City, Kasese, Bunyangabu, Ntoroko, Kitagwenda.

Aiden David Rujumba commissioner of financial management systems at the Ministry of finance planning and economic development is optimistic that this will improve efficiency, transparency, and accountability in the use of public resources for improved service delivery.

 Otai Charles the Ntoroko District Chief Administrative Officer said the initiative is timely and will ease their work and drastically reduce the cost of doing business in the local governments.

Stella Kyorampe the Kabarole District LCV Vice Chairperson said as a host district they will ensure they give the users convenience and also provide security for the newly installed electronic devices and as well ensure that they serve the intended purpose.

The centre in Kabarole is in addition to the other nine centers that have since been established across the country since 2019.

The initiative is intended to ensure the promotion of effective use of IFMS minimize control risks, accountability in the use of government funds, and efficiency and effectiveness in expenditure management processes leading to effective service delivery.
