More than 300 residents of Wambewa township village in Bubyangu Sub-county, Mbale District, have signed a petition calling for the removal of their LCI Chairperson, Aliyi Mudangada Buzeze. The petitioners accuse Buzeze of extortion, corruption, and misconduct, particularly alleging that he demanded money from beneficiaries of the Parish Development Model (PDM) program.

Other accusations include protecting criminals, failing to mobilize residents for government programs, and neglecting his duties, which reportedly led to school-aged children loitering in trading centers. The petition has been submitted to the LCII, LCIII, and LCV offices, requesting Buzeze's removal from office.

Upon receiving the petition, Mbale District Chief Administrative Officer Luke Lokude assured the public that he would review the claims and provide further guidance. In response, Buzeze dismissed the allegations, claiming the petition was part of an effort to tarnish his reputation by individuals seeking to replace him as chairperson. He urged those behind the petition to follow lawful procedures in addressing their concerns.

Under the Local Government Act, Chapter 243, residents have the power to remove their village chairperson or any executive member with a two-thirds majority vote, citing reasons such as incompetence, corruption, abuse of office, or misconduct.
