Retired Senior Commissioner of Police, Christopher Obache, has died. His death was confirmed by Inspector General of Police –IGP Martin Okoth Ochola on Wednesday through his tweeter account.

“I have learnt with shock the sudden death of Rtd Senior Commissioner of Police Christopher Obache which occurred today morning at around 3:00 am from his home in Bukasa,” Ochola said.

Police Chief Political Commissar, Asan Kasingye, also confirmed Obache’s death but said he was yet to get details regarding his death and possible burial arrangements.

Obache is known among the Uganda Police Force –UPF fraternity as father of Anti- Riot Police now commonly known as Field Force Unit –FFU. He was devoted towards popularizing and advocating for welfare of officers under his jurisdiction.

Obache spent more than30 year superintending the growth of Anti-Riot Police alias FFU as a special department.

In October 2014, then IGP Gen Kale Kayihura presided over the event in which Obache alongside seven others were promoted from the rank of Commissioner of Police –CP to Senior Commissioner of Police –SCP.

Obache was promoted with among others Henry Tukahirwa, Ahmed Wafuba, Wilber William Kototyo, Moses Byaruhanga, Samuel Kyomukama, Charles Kataratambi and Erasmus Twarahukwa.

Obache retired from Uganda Police services in 2017 after clocking 60 years. However, some of his colleagues with whom he was promoted to the rank at which he retired have been elevated to Assistant Inspector General of Police –AIGP. These include AIGP Moses Byaruhanga now director police medical services and AIGP Erasmus Twarahukwa now police legal director.

Obache clashed with IGP Kayihura in August 2015 when he was transferred from his favourite unit FFU to Welfare as deputy director. It was the first time he thought of quitting Uganda Police force. FFU wears blue camouflage uniform.
