A security guard in
Jinja is in trouble for using his firearm to celebrate the Christmas holiday.
John Kolibi, who is
attached to Accurate Security Services Limited, was picked up from Kirinya road
in Jinja municipality in the wee hours of this morning for alleged gun misuse.
He is accused of
releasing five bullets in the air purportedly to celebrate the Christmas
suspect is said to have abandoned his duty station in Walukuba and went for drinking in Kirinya where he opened the fire,
which threw residents in panic. They alerted police, which swung into action and
picked up the suspect.
Musa Buluguyi, a mechanic along Kirinya road says that when
he heard the gunshots he thought that they had been invaded by robbers.
"The bullets were immense. I was forced to think that
armed robbers had invaded our area but after close to five minutes, the
shooting stopped. On rushing to the scene, a security guard was shouting
and dancing alone so we decided to notify police," he said.
Kiira Region Police Spokesperson, Diana Nandawula, says the
suspect is locked up at Jinja Central Police Station but has refused to divulge
