Security Guard Shoots Dead Suspected Thief In Hoima City

Julius Hakiza, the Albertine region police spokesperson has confirmed shooting of the suspected thief to URN.
A security guard in Hoima city has shot dead a man suspected to be a fuel thief. 

The deceased who is yet to be identified was shot at Busiisi trading center in Hoima East division of Hoima city on Wednesday night. 

Information obtained by Uganda Radio Network-URN indicates that the deceased  together with three other colleagues raided the area and attempted to siphon fuel from a generator operating the American Tower Corporation -ATC Telecommunication mast situated within Busiisi trading center. 

However, Jamal Tumusiime, a security guard attached to Swatt Security Limited who was patrolling the area opened fire at the thugs and in the process a bullet hit one of the suspected thugs on the chest killing him instantly. The other thieves reportedly fled to an unknown destination.

A resident who spoke to URN on condition of anonymity explains that after the security guard opened fire on the thugs, area residents heard the victim screaming for help while the rest of his colleagues took off unnoticed.

Hakiza says the victim succumbed to injuries resulting from over bleeding after being shot on the chest.  

According to Hakiza, the security guard involved in the shooting later abandoned his gun registration number UG.SR 56400194410327 with three rounds of ammunition and varnished to an unknown destination. 

But Hakiza made it clear that although the gun used in the shooting has been recovered from the crime scene, the hunt for the security guard is ongoing.
