Seven Murdered in Albertine Region in Three Days

Julius Hakiza, the Albertine Region Police Spokesperson said that in some murders, they have apprehended suspects while the others are still being investigated.
Julius Hakiza, the Albertine region police spokesperson has confirmed the murders to URN.
Seven murder cases have been recorded in three days in the districts of Buliisa, Masindi, Kikuube, and Kagadi.   The deceased persons include Henry Benjamin Bright 69, a retired teacher from Kikuube who was reportedly murdered on February 3rd from Rwomubazi cell in Buhimba town council.   

The killers reportedly raided his home and hacked him several times in the head and neck, killing him instantly. They later dumped the body in his garden.    

In the same week, a fisherman attached to Kabolwa landing site in Kigoya parish, Butiaba sub-county in Buliisa district was assaulted to death. The deceased was identified as Amos 27.    He was reportedly assaulted on February 2nd by John Mundua, also a fisherman attached to the Kabolwa landing site.  The two reportedly picked a misunderstanding over yet unknown reasons and, in the process, Mundua hit Amos on the head with a blunt object.     He was rushed to Buliisa General Hospital for treatment where he was pronounced dead on arrival.  

In a related development, John Kyamuhangire 65, and his 9-year-old son Lawrence Musinguzi both residents of Kichocome village in Isunga sub county, Kagadi district were murdered on Saturday. They were reportedly hacked to death by Raphael Karamagi,  a resident in the same area for unknown reasons.    

It is alleged that Karamagi raided the home of Kyamuhangire and hacked him together with his son.  The suspect later appeared in the same village on Sunday prompting area residents to lynch him and then set his body ablaze. 

In another incident, Matayo Kaaza 45, a resident of Mabaale A village in Nyakarongo sub-county, Kagadi district was reportedly murdered by his son identified as Julius Habomuremye 25 on February 2nd.  Habomuremye accused his father of denying him a chance to sell part of the family land.

He reportedly picked a brick and hit his father on the head killing him on the spot.

In Masindi, Yoweri Bagonza 32, a resident of Kinenaburehere village in Bwijanga sub-county was reportedly hacked to death by unknown assailants on February 4th.    

The assailants hacked Bagonza in the neck, chest, head, and right hand. They later dumped the body a few meters from his home.    

Julius Hakiza, the Albertine Region Police Spokesperson said that in some murders, they have apprehended suspects while the others are still being investigated.

Hakiza has cautioned members of the public not to take the law into their own hands.
