The seventh suspect is a minor whose identity has been witheld. They appeared before Ntungamo Grade One magistrate Mariam Namubiru on Friday who read for them one count of murder, three counts of attempted murder, one count of arson, and one hundred eighty counts of malicious damage to property. Namubiru didn't allow the accused to plead to the charges, syaing her court lacks jurisdiction on capital offenses.

According to the charge sheet, on the night of February 26th, 2023, at Kyamate Secondary school in Ntungamo Municipality, the suspects with malice aforethought unlawfully caused the death of Bonus Atukwase, a senior student, and also set fire to a dormitory block where property worth millions of Shillings was destroyed. Ntungamo state Attorney Laudel Twinomugisha who led the prosecution side told the court that police investigations into the matter were still ongoing and asked the court for more time.

“I pray that this court adjourns the matter as we conclude the investigations,” he said. Consequently, Namubiru remanded six of the seven suspects to Ntungamo Government prison and remanded the minor to Kabale Remand Home. She told the accused that they will appear before the Chief Magistrate's Court for plea-taking.
