He adds that following complaints, a meeting was held at the school where the victims confessed to the administration that the Shamba boy had been defiling them since 2023. The school reported the matter to Kakooge Police Station, which arrested the suspect and transferred him to Nakasongola Central Police Station.
The Police have since examined the victims and the suspect as part of the investigations into the case. Twineamazima says that the suspect is facing charges of aggravated defilement and will be presented to the Court immediately after the State Attorney sanctions his file.
Before the cases of defilement came out, some residents had questioned the move by African Children Mission to leave the girls to stay in the house of Shamba Boy. The National Director of African Children's Mission Geoffrey Nsamba could not comment on the case.
The Nakasongola District Speaker Rogers Bwanga expressed shock upon learning about the case and asked the Police to prosecute the suspect to deter others from sexually abusing the girls.
Cases of defilement are on the increase in Nakasongola. In June this year, a 4-year-old girl Sharon Namwanje a pupil at Good Times Nursery and Primary School was defiled and later strangled to death.
It was reported that Namwanje and her 6-year-old sister were walking back home from the School when they encountered the killer. The man reportedly befriended the sisters by offering to buy them pancakes.
The killer then took Namwanje into a nearby bush, leaving the sister waiting in vain. The following day, community members discovered Namwanje’s lifeless body in the bush. The incident happened at Wangoiro village in Nakitoma Sub-County.
According to the Police Crime report, 177 cases related to children were reported in Nakasongola in 2023 and ranked in the ninth position with the highest number of cases across the Country.
