The police in Nakapiripirit district have arrested six people for fraudulently accessing 1 million PDM funds
each together with the Community Development Officer Kotol Setimo.
They are Emmanuel Ochan, and Ongom Benard who are both employed at Moroto Regional Referral Hospital, Sharon
Ongom, Ongom David, Kodet Paolino a head teacher and Sylvester Onyang
proprietor of Heritage FM in Nakapiripirit.
Their arrest was ordered by George Owanyi the
Nakapiripirit RDC who acted on intelligence information obtained during a
community Baraza at Nakapiripirit Town Council. During the meeting, Kotol Setimo, the Community Development Officer was accused of omitting the names of
genuine beneficiaries.

During the same Baraza Owanyi caused the arrest of Moru
Godfrey an employee of Electoral Commission Nakapiripirit who had helped his
relative Ngiro John to access one Million shillings PDM cash.
Moru was forced to refund the money which was handed
over to the rightful beneficiary.

Owanyi however decried the high rate of extortion and
corruption in the PDM implementation in the district and cautioned the Namalu
Sub County Councilor Aleper Prasede against misleading the community that
PDM is a token of appreciation from the government.
