Six Priests Ordained in Kabale Diocese

The Bishop of Kabale Diocese, Calistus Rubaramira has ordained six priests at St Mary’s Rushoroza Cathedral in Kabale district.

The ordained priests are Placid Mugumya from Nyarushanje parish in Rukungiri district, Achilles Tumukurate from Rubanda parish, Deogratias Mwebembezi from Muko parish in Rubanda district, Deogratias Tubiheruhanga from Rwanyena parish and Vincent Turinawe, from Maziba parish in Kabale district.

Bishop Rubaramira also ordained seven deacons and ten lectors.

The ordination was supposed to have been held in August 2020, but was suspended follow after places of worship were closed following the outbreak of Covid-19.

The ceremony was conducted in a mass where Christians observed social distancing. Other Christians who had arrived to attend the service were turned away by the police.

Bishop Rubaramira asked the ordained priests, deacons and lectors to preach the gospel of peace and repentance. He also asked them to avoid preaching divisive gospel instead of development.

Rubaramira says that the ordained must abide by the Catholic Church norms or else they will be penalized accordingly.

Deogratius Mwebembezi and Vincent Turinawe, some of the ordained priests thanked Christians for praying to them to attain such a level. They say that their dream is to tirelessly serve the Lord until their last day on earth.
