A speeding double cabin truck belonging to Uganda National Roads Authority has knocked dead a pedestrian at Corner Boroboro 7 Kilometers along the Lira- Soroti highway. The deceased is Moses Opio, a resident of Ocukuru village in Boroboro parish of Adekokwok Sub County in Lira district. Manshur Suwed, the central north regional police spokesperson identifies the accident vehicle as a pick up double Cabin white in color registration number UAJ 491X belonging to the UNRA offices in Lira.
He explains that Opio was hit this morning when the driver of the pickup he declined to name, tried to avoid colliding with a boda boda taxi. Geoffrey Ogwanga, an eye witness says that the vehicle lost control and swerved off the road after the boda boda motorist entered carelessly in the road. He says that angry residents descended on the driver of the pickup and beat him but he was rescued by police which arrived in time. The deceased’s body was taken to Lira referral hospital for a postmortem. Police has towed the vehicle from the accident scene and parked it at Lira Police Station.
