All senior four students of St Leo's College Kyegobe, Kabarole district, have been suspended.

The decision was taken by the Board of Governors meeting held on Friday. The suspension of the 60 students follows a strike on Wednesday night.

Aloysius Rujumba, the Headmaster confirmed the decision of the board. He explains that the students will return to school on July 12th.

“They will return on July 12. For now, we are doing investigations to find out who are the specific individuals that were behind the act,” Rujumba says.

On Wednesday night, police fired bullets to disperse the students who had gone on a rampage and attempted to attack Rujumba whom they accused of 'failing' them in sports.

They accused the head teacher of refusing to hire outsiders to play for the school team during the district volleyball championship.

The students were also angry after learning that they had been disqualified from the competition and the trophy given to their rivals, Nyakasura School.
