Residents of two parishes in Buwatuwa Sub County, Namisindwa,
are counting losses after heavy rains accompanied by a storm wreaked havoc,
destroying all their crops, houses, and primary school on Monday night. The affected are Bunabalayo and Buwatuwa parishes. Sam Kundu,
the LC3 Chairperson of Buwatuwa Sub County, says that the most impacted
villages include Nalukatu and Bunabwana, among others.
Kundu also said that the
storm caused significant damage to Piagate Nursery and Primary School, blowing
off two classrooms and leaving the children without a place to study. He says that the storm also destroyed crops like bananas,
coffee, and trees, and damaged ten houses belonging to residents.
Peter
Mutambo, one of the affected residents, appealed to the district's disaster
management committee and political leaders to provide support in the form of
food items since they currently lack any means to feed themselves.
