Stray elephants have killed a farmer in Bigando, Kitswamba
Sub-county Kasese district.
Emmanuel Kiiza,aged 34,
was guarding his rice farm at around 2:00AM when he was attached by
the stray animals.
Bridget Molly, a local farmer, says farmers have been living out to
guard their farms from elephants that stray from Kibale National Park.

farmer says the persistent invasion of elephants has forced farmers in district
to harvest premature crops from their gardens.
In 2023, stray elephants from Queen
Elizabeth National Park have destroyed crops in Kyalanga village, Karusandara
Sub County.
More than 20 acres of bananas, maize, and potatoes
were destroyed. UWA's intensifying electric fencing has however reduced human-wildlife conflicts around queen Elizabeth.
