Over 600 students of Kagongo Senior secondary school in Ibanda town council, Ibanda district on Monday staged a strike over poor sanitation, hygiene and inadequate water supply at the school.

The students also accused the administration of not caring about their privacy. They said that the school had failed to install curtains in their dormitories yet they are located near the road.

Speaking to the Uganda Radio Network (URN), the students said they were also unhappy with the proposal to introduce a new head teacher. The students claim that Muhama Wilbroad Mushaka is not suited to their school because he had previously served at St. John Fisher School which is a bitter rival.
