Sub County Chief on the Spot For Assaulting CDO

Namakiika told journalists that Wandera forced her to approve payment of emyoga funds to one of the groups, which had failed to meet the standards. Manana Wandera, the Makutu Sub county chief in Bugweri district in on the spot for allegedly assaulting his Community Development Officer, Jane Namikiika. 

Wandera reportedly attacked the CDO with a metallic road-hitting her on the left hand and back. Namakiika is receiving treatment at a private health facility in Bugiri district. 

It is alleged that prior to the incident, the Bugweri District Deputy Chief Administrative Officer, Mary Birete convened a reconciliatory meeting on Sunday morning to resolve the endless misunderstandings and stemming from the management of the rightful beneficiaries of the Emyoga funds.

Wandera declined to comment on the allegations levelled against him, arguing that his superiors are better placed to comment since they are handling the matter. The Busoga East Police Spokesperson, Diana Nandawula confirms that Bugweri police station has entered a case of assault against Wandera and investigations are ongoing. 

The Bugweri Chief Administrative Officer, Nelson Kirenda also told URN that he had received information concerning the misconduct of one of his staff, adding that he will formerly write to Wandera tasking him to explain what transpired before taking disciplinary procedures.
