A teacher from Naiwoikorot Community Primary School was last night shot dead by suspected warriors in Napak district.

Simon Peter Ilukol died at around 1:00 Am when he moved outside after hearing unknown people whispering outside his house in Namasikwei village in Ngoloriet sub-county.

It is alleged that the suspected warriors were running for safety after their ambush was foiled by joint security forces.  One of their colleague Moses Keno was shot dead by the forces that were on patrol.

Simon Peter Lokwang, the LCIII Chairperson of Ngoloriet Sub County said that the armed cattle rustlers had gone to raid cows in Namasikwei village when they came across security forces that were patrolling.

Lokwang said that when one of their colleagues was shot,  they fled and ran for safety at the wood fence surrounding the Manyattas.

He also observed that there has been a wave of insecurity for the last month caused by suspected raiders from Nabilatuk District.

Lokwang wondered why the warriors had failed to embrace peace and continued to terrorize them despite the several dialogues carried out calling for peaceful coexistence.

Michael Longole, the Mt Moroto regional police spokesperson identified the killed cattle rustler as Moses Keno, a resident of Lokitenge village Kosike Sub County in Nabilatuk district.    He said they have launched a hunt for his colleagues who killed the teacher.

On Wednesday, a 63-year-old farmer Chule Prescott, was killed by suspected rustlers. He was the father of Joseph Lomongin, the former Napak district LCV Chairperson.
