Tanga Intervenes In Bushenyi NRM Leadership Wrangles

NRM Electoral Commission boss, Dr. Tanga Odoi met Bushenyi party leaders over wrangles threatening the party in the district. Tanga warned historicals against sowing hatred.

The National Resistance Movement Electoral Commission chairman, Dr. Tanga Odoi has intervened in the Bushenyi party leadership wrangles.


This follows a resolution by some party members in the district to boycott primaries citing manipulation of the process by their chairman, Hassan Bassajabalaba.

While addressing NRM aspirants and supporters at Katungu Mothers' Union Centre in Bushenyi district, Dr. Tanga threatened to disqualify any aspirant found to be using money to bribe members in the ongoing party primaries.

Odoi also warned historicals in the NRM party to stop creating hatred among supporters because the exercise comes once and goes but people have to live together afterwards.

He also observed that some politicians in the western districts are using hate speech that tends to incite people to be violent and fight each other.


The leaders led by Wills Bashasha, the incumbent Bushenyi District LC 5 chairperson accused Hassan Bassajabalaba, the Bushenyi District NRM party chairperson of meddling in the just concluded NRM grassroots elections. 

They also accused him of heavily funding new comers against current party leaders, an allegation Basajjabalaba continues to deny.
