Teachers have resolved to resume their nationwide strike this week to protest the failure by the Education and Sports Ministry to transfer their revolving fund to the teacher\'s Apex SACCO as earlier agreed.

The decision was reached by the UNATU apex Sacco executive convened on Friday at the Uganda National Teacher\'s Union offices on Bombo road.

James Tweheyo, the UNATU General Secretary says during their nationwide strike two month ago, they agreed with the Ministry to transfer their revolving fund from the Microfinance Support Center to the teacher\'s Apex SACCO.

He however, says although the two months have elapsed nothing has been done to implement the resolution.

Tweheyo says both the Finance State minister David Bahati and Finance Permanent Secretary Keith Muahakanizi wrote to the education minister Jessica Alupo to implement the resolution in vain.

Cue out: …do to her.”//

Tweheyo says there is no reason why the minister has refused to order the transfer of the funds. Officials from the Education Ministry have maintained silence on the matter.

Last week, Rose Nassali Lukwago, the Permanent Secretary ministry of education declined to comment on the matter saying she was away on leave.

Patrick Emmanuel Muinda, the spokesperson of the Ministry promised to cross check and get back to URN over the matter. However, by the time of filing this story he hadn\'t yet got back to our reporter.
