Basketball teams have kicked off preparations for the new 2021
National Basketball league-NBL scheduled for April 2.
The National Basketball League will be returning to action a year after it was cancelled due to the Covid- 19 pandemic.
UPDF manager Captain Henry Mwijuka says that his team has been preparing
since January and are ready for the resumption of the league.

JKL Dolphins Team technical director Fredrick Owala says that the
team is ready for the coming league. He adds that they have to prepare to host
a mini JKL tournament as part of their preparations.
“We are preparing for the league, we have been training but we
have boosted the training with the JKL tournament, we started our training in
January so we are keeping fit to be ready for the league”
This year’s edition of National Basketball League will be a
different system, it will be a single round game of the regular season with no
double fixtures according to the Uganda Basketball Federation-UBF Vice
President in charge of Administration Hudson Ssegamwenge.
Ssegamwenge also says the one round fixture is designed
considering the busy calendar the Federation has for 2021.
According to the FUBA Vice President Technical and Competition Joseph
Manano, Sunday says that the new format of the league will not over constrain
the teams so that they can be able to participate. He also says a single
fixture will help their sponsors not be disadvantaged with heavy expenses.

However, Ssegamwenge said that this year’s league will be played indoors
with no fans allowed to watch the games.
