Hoima is firing teargas and live bullets to disperse angry supporters
of National Unity Platform-NUP who took to the streets this Wednesday afternoon protesting the arrest
and detention of their presidential candidate Robert Kyagulayi.
supporters blocked the Hoima-Fort Portal road using logs, stones and tree
branches paralyzing transport.
They also started burning car tyres in the middle of the road.
The angry NUP
supporters are also leading processions in various parts of Hoima City. They took to the streets at 3:30PM this evening.
Business along the Hoima-Fort Portal road is also currently at stand still.

Central police station is currently dispersing the NUP Supporters.

Ayebale one of the Protestors say it is wrong for Police to arrest and detain
Robert Kyagulanyi during his campaign period.
another NUP supporter says it is unfair for police and the military to be only
on National Resistance Movement-NRM party side while restricting Kyagulanyi from
holding his campaign rallies.

Kyagulanyi should immediately be freed.

also a supporter wonders why Police is against Kyagulanyi. He says whether Bobi
wine is in detention or not they will vote for him.
Hakiza, the Albertine region police spokesperson says police are being forced
to fire teargas and live bullets to disperse the rowdy supporters and stop them from causing
mayhem in the City center.
arrested this morning from Luuka district headquarters where he was addressing
a mini-campaign rally.
He was picked
up by a team of police officers led by Frank Mwesigwa, the Zonal Commander
overseeing elections in Busoga and Bukedi regions. He is currently detained at
Nalufenya police station in Jinja district.
