Annet Nakawuka had entrusted Nayebare who had asked to help soothe the crying baby while she attended to her household chores.  Minutes after, when Nakawuka came out of the house to breastfeed the baby, Nayebare had locked her room and vanished.

Nakawuka freaked out and started searching for Nayebalre in vain which prompted her to run to the police. Through collaborative effort, police managed to arrest three people said Nayebare’s collaborators.

A neighbour's whose CCTV camera managed to capture Nayebale taking the baby released the footage to police to aid investigations.

Wasike is so far the fifth baby to be abducted from the district in a period of three years according to the police records.
