A police officer told URN on condition of anonymity that they had also recovered a gun that is believed to have been used in the attack from the home of the prime suspect.
Three people are in custody at Iganga Central Police Station in connection to the murder of Dr. Ibrahim Gwaluka, the director of Kigandalo Health center IV. Dr. Gwaluka was gunned down by unknown assailants on Friday last week outside his gate in Bulubandi village in Nakigo Sub County in Iganga district.
The deceased was driving with his wife, Jalia Namusabi in a premio registration number, UAR 893N during the attack. Namusabi fled for dear life from the vehicle during the shooting. Now, police have picked up three people in connection to the shooting.
Two of the suspects were picked up from Mayuge district, while the key suspect was picked from Busia district. A police officer told URN on condition of anonymity that they had also recovered a gun that is believed to have been used in the attack from the home of the prime suspect.
"A gun was recovered in the residence of this key suspect and we highly suspect that it was the one used to shoot Gwaluka," he said. James Mubi, the Busoga East Region Police Spokesperson has confirmed the arrest.
"It is true that we arrested three suspects and also recovered a gun in Busia district but investigations are still ongoing. The suspects will be produced in court after investigations," he said.
He declined to divulge further details, saying it may jeopardize their investigations since they are still hunting for more suspects.
