Three Killed, Five Injured in Kabale Road Crash

Dickson Kamuhanda, an eyewitness says that the accident happened when the taxi Toyota Corona registration number UAQ 372M that was carrying passengers from Katuna to Kahungye failed to climb a hill at Habuhuriro and rolled back before it overturned several times.

Three people died and five others were injured in a road crash in Kahungye sub-county, Kabale district. The accident happened on Saturday at around 9:00 pm at Katojo village, along the Katojo-Habubaare feeder road connecting Kahungye-Rubaya and Butanda sub-counties.  

Dickson Kamuhanda, an eyewitness says that the accident happened when the taxi Toyota Corona registration number UAQ 372M that was carrying passengers from Katuna to Kahungye failed to climb a hill at Habuhuriro and rolled back before it overturned several times. 

The dead have been identified as Loyce Nateza 37, Oliver Byaruhanga 48, and Keti Ninsiima 43. He says that others were rushed to Rugarama Hospital and are currently admitted. 

Some of the injured are Aven Muhangi, Moses Hashaka, a teacher at Kahungye primary school, Kedress Butozi and others only identified as Ismail and  Abraham.

When contacted, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Wilson Mucunguzi, Kabale district  Officer in Charge of Traffic police says that he is still following up on the matter.
