Julius Hakiza, the Albertine region police spokesperson has confirmed all the murders to Uganda Radio Network -URN, adding that investigations are ongoing.

Three people were murdered in the
Albertine region over the weekend.
In one of the incidents, Geofrey
Seluyima 34, a resident of Igasani village in Igayaza parish in Kyabasaija sub
county of Kakumiro district was reportedly lynched by a mob. This happened on
Saturday at around 4 p.m. in Kakumiro.
It is alleged that the deceased
was caught with a cow suspected to have been stolen and residents descended on him beating
him to death.
Police picked up his body that was conveyed to the Kakumiro
health center IV mortuary for postmortem and later the body was handed over to
the relatives for burial arrangements. Police have launched investigations and the hunt for those who participated in the mob action is ongoing.
In another incident that occurred in
Masindi, Ayubu Byenkya 27, a resident of Nyangahya cell in Nyangahya division
of Masindi Municipality was reportedly murdered by yet unknown assailants who
later dumped his body along the market street in Masindi town. The
incident happened on Saturday night at unknown time.
According to police findings, the
assailants inflicted deep cuts on the deceased’s head, neck and chest.
Though a sniffer
dog was introduced to the crime scene, it could not trace for the assailants
since the scene had already been tampered with.
Teopista Nakayovu, the deceased’s
relative stated that he was last seen in the area on Friday afternoon adding that
they were shocked when they received information that he had been killed and his body dumped in the middle of the road in Masindi town.
The deceased’s life less body was
picked up by the police and conveyed to the Masindi hospital mortuary for
postmortem and later handed over to the relatives for burial as the hunt for
the assailants is ongoing.
The third murder involved a 38-year-old
man identified as Apollo Tumwesigye, a resident of Kabegaramire village in Kaseeta
parish, Kabwoya sub county in Kikuube district who was also murdered on
Saturday night.
It is reported that unknown
assailants brutally murdered the deceased before dumping his body a few meters from his home. The body had deep cuts on the head,
face, neck and the chest.
Area residents recovered the body on Sunday morning and alerted the police who swiftly rushed to the area and initiated investigations.

Chairperson said that the deceased was last seen in the area on Saturday night
around 9 p.m. in a local bar with his colleagues adding that residents were
shocked to discover Tumwesigye's lifeless body lying near
his home on Sunday morning.
Six people have since been arrested and
detained by the police in connection to the brutal killing of the deceased.
