Three people were killed in the Albertine region over the weekend. Koromboni Irumba, a 57-year-old resident of Kyebisooha village in Kabamba sub-county, Kagadi is one of those killed by unknown assailants on Sunday night. The motive behind the brutal murder is shrouded in mystery.   Koromboni left for Kyebisooha trading center but failed to return home, raising concerns among his family. Desperate for answers, they reported his disappearance to Kagadi police station, which immediately initiated a search operation, joined by residents. Koromboni's lifeless body was found lying in a pool of blood by the roadside on Monday morning bearing deep cuts to his neck and head.

Wilberforce Mugisha, a resident of the area, wondered why Koromboni could have been killed since he had no known disputes with anyone. He urged the police to intensify their investigations to bring the culprits to justice. Police conducted a postmortem at Kagadi General Hospital before handing over the deceased’s body to his family for burial arrangements.

Julius Hakiza, the Albertine region police spokesperson, confirmed that investigations into this gruesome murder are underway, though no suspects have been apprehended. In another incident in Kakumiro, a 27-year-old man, Mbiride Alikanjiro, lost his life in a dispute with his colleague, Baloni Mugarura. The cause of their fatal altercation remains unknown.

The two men had a confrontation in a local bar owned by Edward Turyatemba on Sunday night around 8 p.m. During the altercation, Mugarura, armed with a machete, inflicted severe injuries to Alikanjiro's head, face, and neck. Despite being rushed to Kakumiro Health Center IV for treatment, Alikanjiro was pronounced dead upon arrival. Residents apprehended the suspect, who was subsequently turned over to the police, which has charged him with murder.

The third incident involved a 40-year-old man named Amos Okumu in Buliisa. Accused of stealing a pig, he was lynched by an enraged mob from Kampala B village in Biiso town council on Sunday evening at around 7 p.m. The police retrieved Okumu's body and placed it in the Buliisa General Hospital mortuary for postmortem examination.

In response to this incident, Julius Hakiza, the Albertine region police spokesperson, reported that they have apprehended one suspect, identified only as Ndobo, aged 38, to aid in their ongoing investigation.
