Thugs Rob Millions From Dawson Pump Fuel Station

Benson Byaruhanga Mworozi, the Luweero District Police Commander, says two thugs ridding on motorcycles attacked two pump attendants at Dawson Pump Fuel Station around 2am on Sunday night and tied them with the help of security guard before accessing the safe.
Police in Wobulenzi town council are hunting for a security guard and other suspects accused of robbing millions of Shillings from Dawson Pump Fuel Station along Kampala-Gulu highway. The Security guard, who is attached to Safety Security Services Limited, is suspected to have connived with the thugs to rob the pump fuel station where he was deployed for guard duties.

Benson Byaruhanga Mworozi, the Luweero District Police Commander, says two thugs ridding on motorcycles attacked two pump attendants at Dawson Pump Fuel Station around 2am on Sunday night and tied them with the help of security guard before accessing the safe.

Byaruhanga says the thugs who were armed with a saw broke into the safe and disappeared with the money the pump attendants had collected from the weekend. He says the security guard and thugs fueled their motorcycles to full capacity before disappearing.

Byaruhanga says they received information too late making it a little difficult to follow the thugs. He says they will take action against Safety Security Services Limited for deploying guards in town without reporting to local Police station in line with the guidelines.

Byaruhanga says absence of records on deployment has also delayed process of identifying the suspect involved in the robbery. The guard left behind the gun and keys for cars entrusted to him at the fuel station. Moses Ssebalamu Kayondo, the Wobulenzi Town Council LC 3 Chairperson, says the thugs also vandalized the CCTV camera at the pump fuel station making investigations difficult.

Ssebalamu has asked Police to work with local leaders to screen the security guards working in there because many of them are not known. He also wants police to restrict cars parked at Pump Fuel station because many are now acting as hideouts for robbers at night. By time of filling this story, the Pump Fuel Station had suspended its operations as detectives from Wobulenzi Police Station were recording statements from the pump attendants and administrators.

None of the victims was also willing to talk to the media over the robbery. Cases of security guards robbing places they are entrusted to guard are common in Luweero. The last victim was Luweero Teacher's Savings and Credit Cooperative Limited, which was robbed by the guard who left behind his gun.
