Truck Knocks Police Officer Dead in Napak

A truck has knocked a police officer dead in Napak District.

Corporal James Oluka, attached to Kaithelem Police Post in Napak District died on Wednesday when he collided with a Fuso lorry registration number UAX 489B at Corner Kapel area in Napak district, along the Moroto- Soroti Road. 

Oluka, riding a police motorcycle was carrying Private Zaipayo Rwampare, a soldier attached to Kaithelem detach on a Police Motorcycle UP 6220 when he collided with an incoming vehicle from Kanawat Cattle Market in Kotido.

Michael Ongica, the District Police Commander Napak says that the officers were on the way back to their duty station.

“The officer was trying to save a child who was crossing the road when the driver of the lorry hit him- head-on collision. We have launched a hunt for the driver who fled after causing the accident”, he said.

The injured soldier is seeking treatment at Matany Hospital.
