Two Arrested as Police Investigates Murder Of Gomba Businessman

Two people have been arrested to assist the Police force with investigations into the  murder of a businessman in Kyegonza Sub County, Gomba District. 

Residents of Kyegonza – Kisoga in Gomba District discovered the body of John Muhanguzi, 48, in a garden near a Pentecostal Church at Kalagala Village before the case was reported to the authorities. 

It is alleged the late Muhanguzi, a resident of Kisoga Village was attacked and murdered while on his way from Nsambwe Trading Center where he had gone to buy fuel on Monday evening.  

                

Ms Lydia Tumushabe, the Police Spokesperson for Katonga Region confirmed the incident saying that the incident was reported on Tuesday morning and that the Police team was deployed to the scene to  investigate and the body was taken to Gomba Hospital for Postmortem. 

                

She said that upon receiving the information the Police team led by the District CID officer visited the scene and that statements have been recorded and two people have been arrested.

Tumushabe explained that the Police preliminary investigations have indicated that the assailants just wanted his life since none of his belongings among them a motorcycle was taken.  

            

“We also discovered that Muhanguzi was killed by cutting because the body had several deep cuts allover the body,” she said. 

            

According to ASP Tumushabe, although most murder incidents in Gomba District are a result of land disputes but investigations into Muhanguzi’s death are yet to reveal the motive.

               

It is alleged that at the time of his death, the deceased was embroiled in a dispute over ownership of a Kibanja (plot of land) with one Nalongo Penina Nakabuye and that the matter is pending determination before the court of law in Mpigi.
