Two Arrested for Stealing Church Wine, Holy Water

The Kaabong District Police Commander, Godfrey Acirya, says the duo has been charged with burglary and theft. He says they will be produced in court once investigations are complete.

Police are holding two men accused of stealing Wine, Holy Water and several other items from Uganda Martyrs Church in Kaabong district.  

The suspects are Francis Lochoro and Paul Ngelecha, both residents of Nakadelio village in Kapilan Bar Kaabong town Council.

The suspects were picked up on Tuesday following a complaint from the church management about the disappearance of church property. It is alleged that duo broke into the church on October 15th, 2018 into Uganda Martyrs Church in Kaabong district and made away with wine, holy water, long mats, generator and other electronic appliances.

Their luck ran out when their disagreed with one residents at a drinking joint leading to information leakage. The Kaabong District Police Commander, Godfrey Acirya, says the duo has been charged with burglary and theft. He says they will be produced in court once investigations are complete.

Haadaile Losilo, the Catechist of the Church, says he is ready to pardon the suspects if they confess and ask for forgiveness

Part of the stolen property was recovered from the suspects and deposited at Kaabong police station as exhibit. This is the second time thieves have broken into Uganda Martyrs Catholic Church of Kaabong.
