Two Arrested in Connection with Murder in Amolatar

The body of Alex Opio was discovered with several cuttings on the entire body on Wednesday evening after it was reported that he had gone for fishing at Nabiata landing site with his friends.
 

Police in Amolatar have arrested two people in connection to the murder of a 42-year old resident of Abarler 'B' village, Kabangala parish Muntu sub-county.

The body of Alex Opio was discovered with several cuts on Wednesday evening. It is reported that the deceased had gone fishing at Nabiata landing site with his friends.

The suspects who are held at the Amolatar central police station include; Richard Odul, a 58-year-old resident of Abur-kot village, Abua parish Ochero sub-county in Kaberamaido district and Jasper Anok, 21, a resident of Alobokwe village Agikdak parish, Agikdak Sub in Amolatar District. The two allegedly went fishing with the deceased.

One of the suspects, Odul reportedly surrendered to police at Muntu police post on realizing that members of the community were hunting for him, while his friend had earlier been traced and arrested by police.

Samuel Abedi, the Amolatar District Police Commander confirmed the arrest saying the suspects will be investigated and produced to court. A murder case has been registered under SD ref: 02/14/05/2020

Although police have not yet established the cause of the incident, a source told Uganda Radio Network (URN) that the deceased and Odul had some misunderstandings.
