Two Electrocuted, Six Others Injured

The eight were electrocuted while extending a tent, which came into contact with a live electricity power line, during the preparation for the wedding of John Muwanika, Police driver and his wife Topista Namuzugu.
Two people have died and six others injured in Pallisa district after they were electrocuted. The incident occurred at around 7:20am this morning in Najeniti village in Kasodo Sub County in Pallisa district. The dead have been identified as Stephen Kagodo and Erisa Bongo, both residents of Najeniti village.

The survivors who are admitted at  Multi  Care Clinic in Pallisa are Joseph Opeto, Issa Odeke, Richard  Kamuri, Badru Zubuku, Christopher Mulyakeje and  Noah Sali Musa,  a primary  six  pupil of Top Community Primary  school Kasangu village in  Kasodo sub county.

Our reporter visited the scene and saw live wires dangling in the compound of Muwanika\'s home where the deaths occurred. Muwanika\'s home is located near a high voltage electricity line that goes through Pallisa town to Kasodo Sub County.

Hundreds of people from Najeniti village jammed Multi Care Clinic where the two power victims died shortly after admission. Goges Twinamasiko, the Pallisa District Criminal investigations and Intelligence Officer says they have launched investigations into the incident.

Twinamasiko clashed with the relatives of the deceased when he asked them to take the bodies to Pallisa Hospital for postmortem. “How do we take the bodies to Pallisa Hospital where the medical workers abandoned them before they were forced to go to a clinic,\" said Sam Kirya one of the residents.

Power distributors Umeme have not yet commented on the incident as the local officials couldn\'t be reached by the time of filing this story.
