Two Die In Luwero Pick-up, Motorcycle Accident

Two people died and another sustained serious injuries in a fatal road accident that happened on Katikamu-Kisule in Wobulenzi town council, Luwero District along the Kampala-Gulu highway.

The Friday accident involved a motor vehicle a Toyota Hilux Reg. No. UBG 662W and a Motorcycle a Bajaj Boxer Reg. No. UFQ 707L.

The three victims are yet to be identified.They were all traveling on the motorcycle. Sam Twiineamazima, the acting Savannah regional police spokesperson says in statement that the rider of the motorcycle died on the spot.

According Twiinemazima, the other deceased was a female juvenile aged approximately 4 months.This one he says has died moments after being rushed to Luwero Hospital.

Twiineamazima adds that preliminary observations indicate that the accident happened after the driver of the vehicle from Luwero side to Kampala wanted to overtake vehicles that were ahead of him. As he pulled out of his lane, he collided with an on-coming motorcyclist. One female passenger identified as the mother of the baby sustained serious injuries and was also rushed to Luwero Hospital.

Meanwhile the bodies of the deceased were taken to Luwero Hospital mortuary for postmortem.Luganda Audio

Early this week, police in Luwero District also arrested a driver of an ambulance after he knocked a motorcyclist and caused his death on the spot in a fatal road accident at Bombo, in Bombo Town Council, about 20 kilometers into Luwero District along the Kampala-Gulu highway.

It happened when the Ambulance a Toyota Hiace Reg. No. UAT 502X which was moving from Luwero side to Kampala collided with an oncoming Motorcycle a Bajaj Boxer Reg. No. UED 769U.

Sam Twiineamazima, the acting Savannah regional police spokesperson told Uganda Radio Network (URN) that Abdullah Ssekiziyivu, 52, who was the rider of the motorcycle died on the spot.
