says that they got know about the incident about 6:30 PM on Tuesday when
Muhumuza failed to show up in the trading center as usual. Phone calls by his
friends to his known number went without response.
He explains that Muhumuza has been working in the stone
quarry to earn a living for a long time. He, however, says that the heavy rains must
have softened the soils forcing it to cave in. Robert Tumusiime, the Kagongo
Division Internal Security Officer, says that the deceased were killed by the stone
debris.

In 2017, the Ibanda District security committee led by the Resident
District Commissioner, Eliasto Akatuheebwa closed Mabanga stone quarry after
landslides destroyed property and gardens.
