Two Electrocuted in Kampala

Naiga and Nakogogwe were electrocuted while placing clothes on a wire to dry. They were residents of Sembule zone in Rubaga Division Kampala.

Police in Kampala are probing circumstances under which a woman and her daughter were electrocuted on Saturday morning.  



Deputy Kampala Metropolitan police spokesman, Luke Owoyesigyire, identified the victims as Agnes Naiga and her daughter, Lillian Nakogogwe.



Naiga and Nakogogwe were electrocuted while placing clothes on a wire to dry. They were residents of Sembule zone in Rubaga Division Kampala. 



"It is alleged that , while Naiga was hanging clothes during the early morning down pour , her hanging lines were in touch with live wires transmitting electricity and she was electrocuted,  it's from there that Lilian tried to save her and she too was electrocuted, “Owoyesigyire said.



Police picked the bodies and took them to city mortuary for postmortem,  investigations are ongoing to ascertain the cause of the electrocution.



Early this year, Naguru Police Barracks in Kampala mourned an officer’s son who was electrocuted.



Victim was identified as Aaron Ongenge, who was a third-year student at Makerere University, met his death as he lay wet clothes on a wire.



Ongenge was a son of AIP Richard Okello who works with the Field Force Unit. Last year, a wife to a police driver was also electrocuted in Nateete.
