Two Family Members killed in Kagadi

The assailants targeted the duo as they traveled on a Bajaj motorcycle registration number UFS 444H. The attackers used machetes to inflict severe cuts on their heads, necks, legs, and hands.
Julius Hakiza, the Albertine region police spokesperson has confirmed the murders of the two family members to URN.
Police in Kagadi are investigating the brutal murder of two family members, whose lifeless bodies were recovered from a swamp along the Hoima-Fortportal road. The victims have been identified as Clovis Byaruhanga, aged 50, and his son Richard Birungi Nyakojo, aged 25, both residents of Kasonga village in Kyangwali sub-county, Kikuube district.

The discovery was made around 7 am on Friday morning near Mpamba Swamp in Kiryane cell, Kagadi town council, Kagadi district. Byaruhanga and his son were allegedly en route to Kagadi for an undisclosed purpose when they were ambushed and mercilessly hacked to death by unknown assailants. The assailants targeted the duo as they traveled on a Bajaj motorcycle registration number UFS 444H. The attackers used machetes to inflict severe cuts on their heads, necks, legs, and hands.

After the gruesome act, the assailants abandoned the motorcycle a short distance from the crime scene. Charles Kagadisa, the Kiryane cell LC I Chairperson, revealed that passersby alerted his office upon spotting the lifeless bodies near Mpamba Swamp. He immediately reported the matter to Kagadi police, who swiftly responded by dispatching officers to the scene.

Kagadisa speculates that the victims may have been killed elsewhere before their bodies were dumped in his area. Matia Aguma, one of the sons of the late Byaruhanga, disclosed that his father and brother lost their lives while on their way to pick up a cow from Mpefu sub-county in Kagadi. According to Aguma, the two departed in the early hours of Friday morning on a motorcycle.

They were shocked to receive news later that day that their loved ones had been murdered and their bodies discarded in a swamp in Kagadi. Julius Hakiza, the Albertine Region Police Spokesperson, confirmed that the police responded promptly to the incident.

The bodies were subsequently transported to Kagadi General Hospital, where they await postmortem examinations. Hakiza affirmed that investigations are underway, and efforts are being made to apprehend the assailants responsible for the heinous murders.

Preliminary findings suggest that the assailants trailed the victims from their home in Kikuube to an unknown location in Kagadi, where they were intercepted, killed, and then disposed of in the swamp.
