Police in Kagadi are investigating the brutal murder of two
family members, whose lifeless bodies were recovered from a swamp along the
Hoima-Fortportal road. The victims have been identified as Clovis Byaruhanga,
aged 50, and his son Richard Birungi Nyakojo, aged 25, both residents of
Kasonga village in Kyangwali sub-county, Kikuube district.
The discovery was made around 7 am on Friday morning near Mpamba
Swamp in Kiryane cell, Kagadi town council, Kagadi district. Byaruhanga and his
son were allegedly en route to Kagadi for an undisclosed purpose when they were
ambushed and mercilessly hacked to death by unknown assailants.

After the gruesome act, the
assailants abandoned the motorcycle a short distance from the crime scene.
Charles Kagadisa, the Kiryane cell LC I Chairperson, revealed
that passersby alerted his office upon spotting the lifeless bodies near Mpamba
Swamp. He immediately reported the matter to Kagadi police, who swiftly
responded by dispatching officers to the scene.
Kagadisa speculates that the victims may have been killed
elsewhere before their bodies were dumped in his area. Matia Aguma, one of the
sons of the late Byaruhanga, disclosed that his father and brother lost their
lives while on their way to pick up a cow from Mpefu sub-county in Kagadi.
According to Aguma, the two departed in the early hours of
Friday morning on a motorcycle.
They were shocked to receive news later that
day that their loved ones had been murdered and their bodies discarded in a
swamp in Kagadi.
Julius Hakiza, the Albertine Region Police Spokesperson,
confirmed that the police responded promptly to the incident.
The bodies were
subsequently transported to Kagadi General Hospital, where they await
postmortem examinations. Hakiza affirmed that investigations are underway, and
efforts are being made to apprehend the assailants responsible for the heinous
murders.
Preliminary findings suggest that the assailants trailed the
victims from their home in Kikuube to an unknown location in Kagadi, where they
were intercepted, killed, and then disposed of in the swamp.
