Two fishermen have died in the Lake Albert waters in Kikuube district after their boat capsized.

The deceased have only been identified as AJaruva (35) and Richard (24), both attached to Bugoma landing site in Buhuka parish Kyangwali sub county in Kikuube district. The incident happened on Saturday evening at around 5p.m.

It is alleged that the two fishermen met their death when their boat was reportedly hit by strong winds that forced it to capsize killing the duo on spot.

Javian Chekechan, a fisherman at the same landing site says though the two fishermen  sounded an alarm, it was not possible for other fishermen to rescue them.

Joseph Ringwegi, the Buhuka parish Councilor says the search for the bodies has commenced. The search is being conducted by fellow fishermen.

On June 26, two fishermen were killed on the lake Albert waters in Kikuube district after their boat was hit by a hippopotamus.

Their bodies were later retrieved by fellow fishermen and handed over to their relatives for burial.
