The deceased include; Kyate Magumba, aged 25-years old and a 35-year old, Wilberforce Kawanguzi.
Police in Busoga East has embarked on efforts to retrieve two fishermen who reportedly drowned in Mpologoma wetland today.
The wetland is located in Kawano
village, Mazuba sub county in Namutumba district. The deceased include; Kyate Magumba, aged 25-years old and a 35-year old, Wilberforce Kawanguzi.
Musa Munulo, a fisherman within the area says that they attempted to save the lives of their colleagues, but failed due to lack of safety gear.
Issa Mbooma, another fisherman says that his
colleagues were washed away by the running water, which contained plant material waste materials.
“Mpologoma is
our main source of livelihood where we get fish for both food and commercial
purposes. However, there are no regulations and this is causing problems," says Mbooma.
Diana Nandawula, the Busoga East's police spokesperson says there are efforts of retrieving the bodies.
