Two Held for Killing UPDF Veteran in Kanungu

The Suspects are Davis Turinawe, 50, a resident of Nyakabungo cell and Reuben Mugyenyi, 37, a resident of Rutoro cell, in Kirima Sub County, Kanungu district. They are accused of masterminding Sergeant Twinomugishas death through aggravated assault.

Police in Kanungu District is holding two people in connection with the death of a 47-year-old veteran of the Uganda People's Defense Forces-UPDF Sergeant Godi Twinomugisha.

The Suspects are Davis Turinawe, 50, a resident of Nyakabungo cell and Reuben Mugyenyi, 37, a resident of Rutoro cell, in Kirima Sub County, Kanungu district. They are accused of masterminding Sergeant Twinomugisha's death through aggravated assault.

Twinomugisha, a resident of Nyakabungo cell and his son only identified as John were assaulted on April 16, 2018, when they were accused of breaking into the house of Samuel Kwikiriza and stealing property worth millions of Shillings on a fateful day.

Although Kwikiriza was left to go after the assault, his son John was handed over to Kirima police post. But Kwikiriza's condition worsened the next day. He was then taken to Katate Health Centre IV, where he breathed his last today.

Kigezi Region Police Spokesperson Elly Maate confirms the incident saying that the suspects are held at Kanungu Police station as investigations into the matter continue.
