Crane Accident Claims 2, Injures Four Others

Two people have died and four others injured in a Crane accident at Tororo Cement factory. The accident occurred on Tuesday evening following the collapse of a Crane that was under repair.

Sowali Kamulya, the Bukedi Region Police Spokesperson, identifies the dead as Engineer Faruk Nagi and Joseph Toyeti, both from Kisumu and Mombasa respectively in Kenya. Only three of the injured have been identified as Okwaare, Egesa and David.

According to Kamulya, the six were working on a 59meter silo at Tororo Cement factory when the Crane collapsed and injured pushed them down. "One part of the Crane broke and threw the workers down killing two instantly while they were repairing it,” he said.

Peter Lukol, an en eye witness, says it was raining when the crane started rotating unusually. An employee of the factory blames management for failing to provide safety gears to the workers, saying the victims could have survived if they had safety gear.  

Our reporter couldn't independent verify the claims.David Omedo, the in charge of Logistics Tororo Cement factory has called for calm from the workers.
