Armed warriors have killed two people in a raid at a kraal in Kathile Sub County, Kaabong district. An unspecified number of cattle was stolen during the attack.

The 3rd Division Brigade Investigations Officer Maj Ephraim Byaruhanga confirms that two civilians were killed and another injured during the attack. He says the UPDF tracked the footmarks to the border with South Sudan.

Kaabong district borders the Didinga and Toposa of South Sudan and the Turkana in the east who are all armed communities. Maj. Byaruhanga said the gunmen attacked an unprotected kraal in Narengepak Parish in Kathile Sub County, Kaabong District on Sunday night.

Kaabong Resident District Commissioner Rex Achilla says up to 40 head of cattle were stolen by the gunmen. He says he has commissioned an investigation into the attack.

Cue out…came from.”//

Raids in Karamoja had reduced in the recent past especially within Kaabong district. However, the use of guns to commit crimes including murder and isolated raids still occurs as the criminals take advantage of the porous borders to enter Ugandan freely.
