Two Killed in Luweero Town Accident

A super custom vehicle registration UAW 953L heading in the opposite direction rammed into a bus registration number UAU 379R destined to Kampala city killing two of its occupants and injured one.

Two people have been killed and one injured in an accident involving a Gaagaa bus in Luweero town council along Kampala-Gulu highway.

The accident occurred on Sunday at 5:00 am opposite Luweero District Education department office near Don Petro Station in Luweero town council.

A  super custom vehicle registration UAW 953L  heading in the opposite direction rammed into a bus registration number UAU 379R destined to Kampala city killing two of its occupants and injured one. 

The dead have been identified as Alex Tebenderena the Director of Junior Legacy School who is also Field officer of Forum for Women in Democracy- Luweero branch and another identified only as Molly. The injured victim is yet to be identified after he fled from the accident scene.

The deceased were heading home located at Kasaala village from Kasana, Luweero town where they spent the night allegedly in the bar.  

The Officer in Charge of Luweero Traffic Police George Bukenya says that no casualties were registered in the bus.

He blamed the accident on the reckless driving by the driver of super custom vehicle and asked the road users to be extra vigilant especially at night.

Policemen with the help from residents removed the dead bodies from the wreckage of the vehicle and transferred them to Luweero hospital mortuary.

The wreckage of the vehicle and Bus were later towed to Luweero Central Police Station to ease traffic.

The occupants of Gaagaa bus boarded taxis to proceed to Kampala.

At least five people have died in Luweero and Nakasongola districts along Kampala-Gulu highway since December 20th 2019.
