Sam Twiineamazima, the Savannah Regional Police spokesperson, stated that preliminary observations suggest the driver of the vehicle, who has not yet been identified, was traveling from Gulu towards Kampala. Upon reaching Kakondi village, the driver struck the motorcycle, which was crossing the road.
Two people died on the spot and another was injured Wednesday morning in an accident at Kakondi village in Wabinyonyi Sub-County, approximately 118 kilometers into Nakasongola District along the Kampala-Gulu highway. The accident occurred around 10 a.m. when a Toyota Hiace, registration number UBL 232G, collided with a motorcycle, a Bajaj Boxer, registration number UFG 032M, and a bicycle.
The deceased have been identified as Ssemwanga Steven, 62, the motorcyclist, and Nakalumba Shadia, 17, the cyclist. The injured pedestrian is identified as Namwoya Rehemah, 15. All three individuals were residents of Sikaye village in Wabinyonyi Sub-County.

Both the motorcyclist and the cyclist died at the scene. The injured pedestrian has been taken to Nakasongola HC IV for treatment. The bodies of the deceased have been transported to the facility’s morgue for an autopsy. Twiineamazima added that the wreckage of the vehicle, which the driver is currently evading, along with the motorcycle and bicycle, has been towed to Nakasongola Central Police Station (CPS) for further processing.
