Two Kinyara Sugar Limited Employees Knocked Dead

The deceased persons have been identified as Paul Bagologosa, 30 and Simon Ayebale, 30.

A hit and run vehicle has knocked dead two employees of Kinyara sugar works limited in Masindi.  

The accident occurred this morning at around 11:30am at Zebra trading center in Kabango town council along the Masindi-Biiso road.  

The deceased persons have been identified as Paul Bagologosa,30 and Simon Ayebale, 30.  

According to an eye witness Wilfred Kyaligonza, the duo was traveling on a Bajaj motorcycle when they were knocked down. He says the speeding truck knocked them from behind killing them on the spot. 

The two were reportedly knocked as they were heading to Kinyara sugar works limited premises for work from Masindi town.     

Carolyn Amongin, the Kinyara sugar limited Communications Manager has confirmed the accident saying it is unfortunate that they have lost two workers this morning.

She says the company ambulance rushed and picked the bodies that have been conveyed to Masindi general hospital mortuary where they are currently lying pending postmortem.  

Julius Hakiza, the Albertine region police spokesperson says the hunt for both the driver and the vehicle that was involved in the accident has commenced. He says after knocking the duo, the driver sped off unnoticed to an unknown destination. 

In May, five cane cutters attached to Kinyara sugar limited died on the spot while 43 others sustained severe injuries in a motor accident along the Masindi-Hoima Road.  

The accident involving a Fuso truck registration number UBG 689G occurred at 6a.m at Ikoba village Bujenje sub county in Masindi.  

The Fuso truck was transporting cane cutters belonging to Kinyara Sugar Limited from Kinyamurara village to Rukukura village for sugar cane harvesting. At the time of the accident, the truck was carrying 48 cane cutters. Police then attributed the accident to reckless driving by the driver.
