Two Kyankwanzi Herdsmen Arrested for Stealing 15 Cows

According to Esiko, after stealing the cows, the suspects loaded the animals on a Fuso truck registration number UAS 445C destined for Kyankwanzi district. Esiko says Hoima police immediately notified their counterparts in Kyankwanzi who mounted a road block and intercepted the truck.
Two herdsmen from Kyankwanzi district are in trouble for alleged theft of fifteen cows. The suspects, whose identities have been withheld by Police, were picked up from Bukwiri in Kyankwanzi district on Monday evening. 

Ezira Esiko, the Officer in charge of the Criminal Investigations Department at Hoima Central Police Station, says the duo is wanted for raiding 15 cows from Kyamongi village in Bulindi parish in Kyabigambire sub county Hoima district over the weekend. The cows belong to Raymond Mugisa, a resident of the area.

According to Esiko, after stealing the cows, the suspects loaded the animals on a Fuso truck registration number UAS 445C destined for Kyankwanzi district. Esiko says Hoima police immediately notified their counterparts in Kyankwanzi who mounted a road block and intercepted the truck.

On realizing that they had been blocked by security operatives, the suspects abandoned the truck and fled into hiding. Esiko says they teamed up with their counterparts in Kyankwanzi and mounted a search for the suspects leading to their arrest on Monday evening from their hideout in Kyankwanzi district.

Police whisked off the suspects to Hoima Central Police Station. Raymond Mugisa, the owner of the recovered animals, says he was shocked when he woke up on Saturday morning and his cows were gone. Cattle thefts in Hoima and other parts of Bunyoro have become rampant in the recent past.
